Mathways to Success

I help hardworking families create enjoyable homework experiences without common core frustration by making math fun!

As a New York State certified teacher, I have experience teaching students of various age and ability levels.

My all time favorite subject to teach is mathematics!

When the Common Core first came out it was frustrating for me too!

I didn’t learn math the way they were teaching it now.

And as a teacher, I had to relearn it all before I could teach my students.

It’s difficult to retrain your brain.

But then something magical happened…

I got to watch my nephew grow up learning math in this new way.

His mental math skills were amazing.

He can do math in his head way faster than I can!

I started appreciating the math skills being taught in Common Core Math.

I started realizing that although it was confusing for me at first…

It really helps kids understand how math works.

Instead of just learning the standard algorithm…

They learn why each piece functions the way that it does.

They learn to understand math on a foundational level.

So while it can be frustrating at first…

Because you have to learn math in a different way than you have before.

In the end it’s worth it!

Because you know you’re helping your child build skills that will help them be amazing mathematicians!

As I started teaching common core math, I learned that this method gives children the opportunity to play with math!

Learning through play is so important for young children.

And when you play with numbers, math gets to be fun!!
